4/12/21 Update

Push for Green!

Gunnison County predicts we will have vaccinated all of the people in our database in the next two weeks.

Once the database is completed, we are estimating that just over 9,000 Gunnison County residents will be fully vaccinated. We need more Gunnison County residents to get vaccinated through any channel available to them in order to reach our goal of 10,000 and move to green.

The number of individuals fully vaccinated is pulled from a State database (Colorado Immunization Information System) based on individuals who list a Gunnison County address. It does not matter where a Gunnison County resident receives a vaccine, they are counted towards our total if they list a Gunnison County address. Our “Fully Vaccinated Individuals” metric includes vaccines given at Gunnison County clinics, City Market, Wal-Mart and vaccinations given to residents in other communities.

Anyone in the general population interested in being vaccinated should continue to register in the Vaccine Interest Form.

Our total vaccination progress is being updated on Monday evenings and can be found on our dashboard here.

Today’s Virtual Town Hall covered this topic.

State Dial Changes

The State of Colorado is expected to make The Dial guidance as opposed to an order on 4/16/21.

This will not change the Gunnison County Coronameter. Gunnison County will remain in Blue Level Coronameter restrictions until 10,000 Gunnison County residents are fully vaccinated. As we transition into Green on the Coronameter the facial covering requirement will remain in place until the Public Health Order sunsets on 7/1/21.

Community Survey

The April Community Survey is open through 4/15/21. We appreciate your continued engagement with the Community Survey.

Having Issues Scheduling a Vaccination?

We continue to hear from constituents who are in a vaccination priority group, but have not yet received their vaccine. If you, or someone you know, who had a vaccination priority due to health conditions, age, or occupation and has not been scheduled yet we ask that you resubmit the Vaccine Interest Form. As the form has evolved overtime, new information has been added that should help identify these individuals. You should receive an e-mail confirming your entry into the database.

Phase 2 Vaccinations and Young Adults

This means that all adults 16 and older who are interested in being vaccinated can look to schedule an appointment. Currently, the only vaccine approved for populations as young as 16 is Pfizer. At this point, Gunnison County regularly sees Pfizer doses and we will be able to continue scheduling this population at specific clinics.

A reminder that those under 18 need to have an adult present to consent for vaccination. Said adult does not have to be a parent as long as a consenting relationship is established.

Virtual Town Halls & Updates

We will be adjusting the sequence of our Community Updates and Town Hall meetings. As of 4/12/21 we will provide our written update on Mondays instead of Thursdays. We will continue our Virtual Town Halls at 4:00 PM on Monday. Sign up ahead of time here.

If there is a topic you would like to see covered, please email ideas to, pio@gunnisoncounty.org.

Community Testing Update

As of April, 14th all COVID-19 testing provided at the GVH testing site will be scheduled Monday-Friday from 9am-12pm. Appointments continue to be made through the Gunnison County Call Center at 970-641-7660. Those seeking testing who are asymptomatic should continue to request testing through the Call Center.

We encourage all community members interested in receiving a test to do so. This includes before and after travel and other ‘personal reasons.’ Higher volumes of testing show the true prevalence of infection in the community.

Other Vaccine Sites

The Mesa County Mass Vaccination Site is at The Mesa County Convention Center (159 Main Street). The vaccination site is open Monday-Friday, 9am – 4pm. Registration for appointments required. Scheduling in English. Scheduling in Spanish.

City Market continues to provide vaccinations. They have set up a scheduling system that is separate from the Gunnison County Vaccine Interest Form.

Walmart has also begun vaccinations. Sign up can be found here.

State Exposure Notification App

The state’s new exposure notification app is now live. Info on how to set it up can be found here. Even a small uptake of the app in our community can positively impact our outcomes. While alone it won’t be a game changer, combined with our other tools- social distancing, masks, hand hygiene- we can continue to reduce the spread.

Call Center: 970-641-7660

The Call Center is open from 8 a.m.-12p.m. and 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

For those needing assistance outside of those hours, please leave a message. There will also be someone monitoring the callcenter@gunnisoncounty.org email.
